
Santa Cruz Village (SCV) is home to 460 freshmen and sophomores. SCV just opened in fall 2007 and is comprised of two-bedroom furnished suites shared by four students and a limited number of single rooms. Each suite has its own large bathroom and entry way. SCV has excellent activity and co-curricular space for students such as a television lounge and two game rooms, an exercise room, ballet and art studios, sound-resistant practice rooms, study and computer lounges, and access to the New Student Center. Each room has cable TV access and the facility offers wireless internet access. Students in SCV enjoy meals at the newly renovated Islands Café, and also have access to common-area kitchens for when they’d like to do a little cooking.
Student learning will always remain the focus of Housing and Residential Education. Residents of both Anacapa and Santa Cruz Villages have access to multiple study rooms and computer labs. Each facility is equipped with wireless network access and this connectivity is included in the student housing fees. Both group and quiet study areas are available, giving students space for individual work as well as the completion of group projects.
Anacapa Village provides upper-division residents with all of the comforts of living on campus plus a few luxuries that you would not expect in a student housing complex. We encourage you to come by and take a tour of our facilities so you can see for yourself all that Anacapa Village has to offer.
Anacapa Village is comprised of 87 four-bedroom, two-bath apartments shared by four students so each student has their own bedroom. Each apartment is fully furnished and includes living and dining room furniture. Residents utilize their kitchens to have dinner parties and late night cookie baking sessions. The kitchens are one of the great meeting places where friendships are made and new cooking skills are learned. Not to worry, smoke detectors and fire extinguishers are supplied in every kitchen as well.
Cable and internet connections are in every living room. Residents host Halo II tournaments, OC viewing parties and World Series gatherings in their apartments. You will have a great time entertaining your friends and organizing study groups in your apartment.
Residents love our pool and Jacuzzi in Anacapa Village. They quickly become a regular meeting place for students, playing afternoon pick-up games of pool-basketball and volleyball or relaxing in the Jacuzzi. We also have study rooms, computer labs, and the Anacapa Commons, a large activity space and television lounge.

Each student who lives on campus is required to purchase a declining balance meal plan. This allows you the convenience of meal service for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and all the hours in between, according to your own personal schedule and dining preferences. You don’t have to worry about waking up at a certain time to eat breakfast or losing a meal because you didn't arrive at Islands Café on time. You choose what you eat and how much, based only on how you’d like to budget the use of your meal plan dollars. You may eat as many times a week as you like at the time of day that best suits your schedule. The board rates listed below are minimum requirements. You are free to add money to your meal card at any time at the University Cash Services office in Sage Hall.

There is a $33.00 non-refundable processing fee for using the Installment Payment Plan (IPP). The fee is calculated in the amounts below. If the University Cash Services office receives a payment of $1,030 on January 15, 2009, they will assume you are using this payment option and automatically apply the $33 fee to your account. Separate billing notices will NOT be sent. It is your responsibility to pay the amounts by the deadlines listed below. If you are late on any installment payment, you will incur a $25 late fee and may be prohibited from using this payment option in future terms.
Keep in mind that you are not permitted to use the IPP if you have a history of late payments (three late payments or more) while using the IPP in the past. If you do not qualify for the IPP, you will be billed for the difference, which is due by January 15, 2009. The best rule of thumb is to continue to make the required monthly payments on your account until your account balance registers $0. By following this plan your account will remain up-to-date and you will not incur late fees.

1. What is the amount of my initial housing payment?
Everyone will pay the same amount for the initial housing payment, which is $1,030. Please follow the steps below to secure your place in housing:

Or, if you prefer, you may scan your signed license agreement cover sheet and email it to us at student.housing@csuci.edu. Once we receive your signed license agreement, you will receive an email confirmation with instructions on how and where to submit your initial payment of $1,030. Once you’ve received our email confirmation, mail in your $1,030 initial payment, make your payment at the University Cash Services office in Sage Hall, or pay on-line via your “MyCSUCI” account.
The initial payment is credited toward your total room and board cost and is not a security deposit. If you are in good financial standing with the University, you will have the option of paying the remaining amount in four payments, July through October, or you may choose to pay in full for the semester. Housing spaces are reserved on a space-available basis depending upon when we receive your completed license agreement and initial payment. Please note that on-campus housing is not guaranteed.

3. Can financial aid be used to cover housing payments?
Yes. The University applies your aid first to registration fees, second to housing fees and third to any other outstanding payments that may be due. In order to be exempt from all housing payments, you must submit proof of sufficient financial aid to cover all registration and housing fees. In order to defer the initial payment for housing, you must have enough anticipated aid on your account to cover all University and housing fees by the December 1, 2008 due date. If your financial aid is not sufficient to cover all of your University and housing fees, you will be expected to make your initial payment as well as future installment payments until your account balance is zero. Students must check their account information through “MyCSUCI” or call the Financial Aid office at (805) 437-8530 before the deadline to ensure that the aid has been applied. Students are encouraged to apply early for financial aid and respond quickly to every request for information from the Financial Aid office or from loan providers. Please note that it takes at least 10 business days to post anticipated aid.
4. What do I do if my financial aid does not cover all my housing expenses?
All financial aid will be posted to the end of the payment schedule. You will be held responsible for paying the difference or entering into the Installment Payment Plan by January 15, 2009. All payments must be made until such time as your student account states a zero balance. Failure to do so will result in late fees and/or a financial hold on your account. Check your “MyCSUCI” account for balance and payment details.
5. How do I know if I am eligible to apply for the housing Installment Payment Plan?
You must be in good financial standing with the University to be eligible for this payment option. If you have a history of late payments or returned checks, you will not be eligible. Please inquire at the University Cash Services office.
6. How do I request housing refund if I have overpaid?
If you are eligible to receive a refund due to overpayment, you must contact the Housing and Residential Education office at (805) 437-2733 to request a refund.
7. May I increase my meal plan during the school year?
To increase your meal plan, take a payment for the additional amount desired to the University Cash Services office. You may add any amount that you choose. Decreases to the meal plan are not allowed. Students are encouraged to spend their meal accounts to a ZERO balance before the end of the academic year. While balances remaining from the fall semester carry over to the spring semester, balances DO NOT rollover from one academic year to the next. Meal Plan Waivers are considered and typically only approved for documented dietary or religious reasons. The deadline to apply for a waiver for fall is July 1, 2008.
8. Is parking available for residents?
There are student parking lots adjacent to all student housing accommodations. A student parking permit will need to be purchased for an additional fee from the Transportation and Parking Services office or the University Cash Services office.
