Camarillo, Calif., April 16, 2008—CSUCI Exhibitions gallery in Camarillo has announced its next show will be a group photography exhibition featuring work by students from CSUCI, Ventura College, Oxnard College and Moorpark College. The exhibition is titled: “Cross Currents.”
The show will begin Thursday, May 15 and continue through Friday, Aug. 29. In lieu of the usual opening reception, there will be a closing reception at the gallery from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 28. The reception is open to the public.
CSUCI Exhibitions Gallery is located at 92 Palm Drive in “Old Town” Camarillo, Calif., 93010. Regular gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
This exhibition will be the first time artist/photographers from these four institutions will collaborate for a group exhibition.
“A coming together of artists from these four schools is a photographic event not to be missed. Work will range from classic black and white photography to abstract and photo-sculpture, making this show a must-see!” said Larry Lytle, CSUCI Photography Instructor.
“The creative caliber of the student work from each of these institutions is incredible; it is a great opportunity to witness firsthand how students are pushing the limits and expectations of photography,” said Monica Furmanski, Adjunct Professor of Photography at Ventura College and co-curator of the exhibition with Lytle.
Student artists participating in the exhibition are Meghan Brandon, Nedda Shishegar, Jenny Sapinoso, and Eric Suliga all of CSUCI; Julie Bloomer, Hannah Fitzgerald, Sarah Willey, and Lisa Dodge all of Ventura College; Pamela Lamas and Maria Villote from Oxnard College; and Forbes Conrad, Jonathan Castillo, Marie Payette, and Miyuki Tanaka all of Moorpark College.
